About Stars Alight Acres
Named for its uninterrupted view of the dazzling night sky, Stars Alight Acres is a 15 acre hobby farm located on California's Central Coast. We bought our first dairy goats late in the summer of 2015, for fun and for milk for our own use. We breed a few does each year. Our goal is to breed for excellent conformation without sacrificing milk production. In 2019 we started participating in ADGA's performance programs. We had our first Linear Appraisal in 2019, and our herd has been on milk test since 2020. In April 2023, we dipped our toes into the show ring for the first time.
Biosecurity
Biosecurity is very important to us. We do annual biosecurity testing. After testing our entire herd annually for CAE, CL, and Johne's for many years and never having a positive case in the herd, we now test annually only for CAE. All incoming adult animals are still tested for all 3 prior to entering the herd, and all of our own retained kids are tested for all 3 initially once they are a year old. We buy kids only from tested herds.

Other Animals
Although the herd of dairy goats is the main attraction, Stars Alight Acres is home to a whole host of farm animals. This includes miniature horses, Shetland sheep, chickens, ducks, geese, quail, cats, rabbits, kunekune pigs, and livestock guardian dogs. Chito the Cairn Terrier is in charge of greeting visitors and rodent control.
We occasionally have kunekune piglets, chicks, and ducklings for sale, as well as eggs for eating and hatching. Our dairy goats and milk products, however, are our main focus.
