Joie De Vivre Sapphire Nutmeg
DOB 5/19/2020

Nutmeg is another special lady. Prairie, our beloved herd queen, was retired after her 2020 kidding when it became apparent that a prior case of mastitis had permanently damaged her udder. We also lost her only 2020 doeling out of a litter of quints. Prairie had been an excellent milker, had nice conformation, and had great sentimental importance, and I was devastated to have lost her bloodline. I began looking for links back to her and found her one-year-younger maternal sister, Ginger Spice, at Joie De Vivre farm. While Joie De Vivre declined to sell me Ginger herself (hey, I had to try!) I was able to buy one of her 2020 doelings.
Nutmeg, named after her grandmother, was more than just a sentimental purchase. According to Joie De Vivre farm, Nutmeg's dam Ginger is an excellent milker. Additionally, during her linear appraisal session, the appraiser noted that Ginger had the best foreudder attachment on any doe of any breed he'd seen on his travels.
Nutmeg comes from excellent bloodlines on her sire's side as well. Her sire's dam, Eden's Edge, is a beautiful and solid doe with both her permant championship and superior genetics designation, as well as a permanent appraisal score of EEEE 90. Eden already has 3 champion daughters, including one who also has her superior genetics designation. All in all, Nutmeg has a lot of potential!
